Blog Roll

I haven't put up a blog roll because I struggle with not wanting to leave anyone out. But then I feel bad because there are so many blogs I read, and I enjoy using other people's blog rolls to find new things to read. So I've decided to put up a blog roll listing the blogs in my reader, with apologies upfront for anyone I've left out. I definitely check out some other blogs from time to time! Rather than try to divide these into categories, I've just made a note about each blog.
  • A Little Pregnant - Funny and insightful look at parenting and infertility. I credit this blog with educated me about infertility issues, and (hopefully) making me a little bit more sensitive.
  • Adventures of SarcastiCarrie - A peak into the life of a mother of two working in a traditionally male field. Sound familiar?
  • Antropologa - A mother who recently moved to Sweden. Her blog was interesting before the move, and the move is providing a lot of interesting posts.
  • Apple Pie and the Universe - Alyssa is a science outreach officer (or something like that), and a mom.
  • Ask Moxie - The best parenting advice site on the web. Seriously. If she has a post covering an issue you're facing, consider yourself lucky! Just be sure to read the comments, too.
  • Bad Mom, Good Mom - A mother and scientist. And seamstress. Her blog is a fun mix of all of these things.
  • Blue Lab Coats - An academic scientist's blog. Some women in science posts, too. Her blog roll is a good source for more academic science bloggers and women in science.
  • Blue Milk - Feminist motherhood. Her posts will make you think.
  • Cara Mama -  A great parenting blog. Her blog roll is an excellent source of more parenting blogs if you're looking for more reading material.
  • Child of Mine - A blog written by two developmental psychologists, including one of the authors the book Bedtiming. The blog is on hiatus, but the archives can be very useful.
  • Female Science Professor - The classic women in science and academia blog.
  • FeMOMhist - The blog of a feminist, mom, and historian. Duh! She covers a wide range of topics, and is a lot of fun to read.
  • Food Politics - Marion Nestle's blog. Dr. Nestle is a renowned expert on nutrition and food policy, and her blog is my go to source for clear-headed views on food issues.
  • Geeks in Rome - An American woman living in Rome with her Italian husband and two kids. I wonder if I like expat blogs so much because I wish I'd lived abroad at some point?
  • Gravity Circus - The blog of an ob/gyn who is also a mother. I find it fascinating reading.
  • Grumpy Rumblings of the Untenured, aka "Nicoleandmaggie". This is a blog maintained by two friends who are both untenured professors. Topics range, and sometimes discussions get lively, but they generally stay respectful and interesting. So just my kind of blog.
  • Hilahil - Another San Diego mother! She's got a way cooler career than me, too- radio announcer on a local rock station.
  • In the Pipeline - The go to blog for pharma industry gossip and analysis.
  • In the State of Tate - Another great parenting blog.
  • The Bean Chronicles - Another scientist mother. The posts aren't frequent, but they are always worth a read!
  • The Mama Bee -  A blog about issues relevant to working mothers. Unfortunately, it isn't being updated anymore, but the archives are worth a read.
  • Melba's Park -  More great parenting blogging.
  • Mom-101 - I wish I was this funny! I also go here to read insightful opinions about the intersection of PR, marketing, and blogging.
  • On Becoming a Domestic and Laboratory Goddess - Dr. Isis' excellent blog touches on a wider range of topics, with an emphasis on women in science, particularly academic science.
  • One Tired Ema - I love this blog for insights into motherhood, and the peak into life in Israel.
  • Parisienne Mais Presque - Motherhood from the perspective of an American living in Paris
  • Ramble, Ramble - Another blog by a San Diego mother, which I really enjoy
  • Secrets of a Warrior Queen -  Another great parenting blog.
  • Small Animals - The writing on this blog is a step above what most of us produce. It is infrequently updated, but I'm always excited when I see a new post in my reader.
  • Steve's Place - A cool blog written by a friend
  • The Tightrope - A postdoc and new mother working on the transition to the tenure track
  • Tragic Sandwich - a parenting blog whose author found me awhile back.  I'm glad she did, because I love her blog!
  • Welcome to Hushville- Another of my favorite parenting blogs.
  • The Yippie Chronicles - Another wise mother who I wish would post more often
  • Zen Master Moo - More great parenting blogging.
