At first, I thought it was amazing odds. <br /><br />But, then, I learned from them that cases that go before the supreme court require parties with deep financial pockets to keep appealing. And that companies only do that when there is a lot of $ at stake.<br /><br />And that those companies hire big law firms known to have some of the baddest and most aggressive litigation attorneys. These firms are mostly in NYC, with some in LA, DC and Chicago.<br /><br />And that those attorneys get paid a lot of $. And I used very expensive (on a scientist salary) daycare.<br /><br />The woman told me that she earned a million $ a year helping rich people sue each other and realized that she hated her life. Now, she is a high school science teacher earning 1/20 that.<br /><br />The man has left the high-powered firm and still works (albeit fewer hours) at a smaller firm.<br /><br />They both made law sound like a soul-sucking job--and they were both outwardly super successful at it.badmomgoodmomhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11569728075698885020noreply@blogger.com
