It is a beautiful day and I have been stuck inside working past when I normally work on a Friday afternoon (I start early on Fridays so I can quit early and go outside and glory in living in San Diego...)

Jennifer Rubin's piece about the difference between Ellen Weintraub and Marsha Blackburn is really good. We focus on what Democrats should do in this crisis, but we should never forget Republicans have a choice in how they respond, too.

The genderbread person is not standard in CA (we have no mandated curriculum, only mandated content). It is fairly widespread. I can't remember whether the genderbread person or the gender unicorn is considered the better version of it--there are multiple variations on its theme.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty fond of genderbread person as a way to explore the concepts, but I HATE the way it defines "intersex" as an in-between of "man" and "woman." It's not accurate for most intersex conditions and positions intersex people as intrinsically something other than a man or a woman. There are some intersex people who identify that way, but many intersex people do not.
I don't love the way they define "Gender expression" either, but I'm at a loss as to how I think they could improve it! This stuff is tricky to capture with succinct phrases.
