Sleep Games

I've started thinking of Pumpkin's sleep as a game of Chutes and Ladders. Hubby and I work our way along slowly, taking thirty days to drop a couple of night wakings, pleased with our progress, and then WHOOSH! Down a chute! Go back 20 spaces! Pumpkin's sick. So we start working our way along again, and then WHOOSH! Down another chute! Go back 10 spaces! Pumpkin wants to practice standing up in her crib. And before we know it, we're back at the beginning, up five times a night, and I'm dozing on the couch between 4 and 6 a.m. with Pumpkin in my arms.

I'm still waiting for a sleep ladder, though.

  1. We are going through the same exact thing. It takes so long too get him to improve his sleeping, but it doesn't take much to make him revert back to his old ways. We keep hoping the sleep fairy will make a visit, if she does we send her your way.

  2. Well, at least we know our babies aren't unusual!

Pumpkin came down with the croup (again) yesterday. More sleep fun.

I wonder if we could leave out treats to lure the sleep fairy? Do you suppose she likes milk and cookies?

  3. Well no sleep fairy lastnight, I might try the milk and cookies tonight. I will let you know if that works.
I hope you guys start feeling better, I have heard croup is no fun.

  4. Are you sure it's a sleep fairy and not a sleep demon? Cause she's not doing me any favors! I'm sorry you are having it rough too. Love the analogy to Chutes and Ladders. I'm going to remember that!

  5. Hmmm, Caramama, you may be right. I've never seen the sleep fairy here, either, just heard tell of her existence....

Still, I'm an optimist. So I think I'll stick with the idea that she's just on vacation!
